Former Mass. OSHA worker pleads guilty in connection with $45,000 pandemic benefits fraud

A former government employee with the U.S. Department of Labor pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection with pandemic benefits fraud.

Mo Yuong Kang, a 50-year-old Woburn and Dracut resident, illegally obtained more than $45,000 in pandemic unemployment assistance benefits, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Kang was an employee of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration from 2016 to 2023. In 2020, Kang applied for unemployment benefits despite earning a salary of more than $85,000 annually from his OSHA job, prosecutors said…
