Former Mass. nonprofit CEO sentenced for improper use of funds

The former CEO of the nonprofit Edgar P. Benjamin Health Center (EPBHC) was sentenced last week in federal court in Boston on charges stemming from his improper use of funds, according to United States Attorney Leah B. Foley’s office.

Tony Francis, 60, of Needham, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to six months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, a press release from Foley’s office reads.

In February 2026, Francis pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional misapplication of money from a program receiving federal funds, according to Foley’s office…
