Colorado Bankruptcies Rose 23% in March as Weld Led Northern Colorado Filings

Colorado bankruptcy filings rose 23% in March from a year earlier, while Weld County continued to post the highest volume in BizWest’s four-county Northern Colorado region, according to an analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data.

The numbers offer one of the freshest snapshots of household and business financial stress in the state and across Northern Colorado. While statewide filings surged, the regional picture was more mixed, with Boulder, Broomfield and Larimer counties seeing increases in March and Weld County slipping slightly year over year for the month while still leading year-to-date volume.
