‘Out of darkness can emerge some light’ | Boulder rabbi leads his community toward healing after Pearl Street attacker sentenced to life

BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder judge sentenced Mohamed Soliman to life without parole plus more than 2,000 years on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to more than 100 counts stemming from a Molotov cocktail attack on a group of peaceful marchers on Pearl Street Mall last summer that killed one woman and injured 13 others.

Soliman threw Molotov cocktails into a crowd of demonstrators on June 1, 2025, who had gathered to march in support of Israeli hostages being held in Gaza. Karen Diamond, who was in her 80s, died in the days following the attack. Thirteen others were physically injured.
