SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Air quality in Sarasota reached unhealthy levels Monday evening and Tuesday morning, with one Sarasota Air Quality Station reporting a reading of 167. When levels get this high everyone should limit outdoor activities. Unusually sensitive people should remain indoors.
Smoke from contained fires along the east central portion of Florida is responsible for the degraded air quality. Strong east winds were blowing the smoke over the region on Monday night. The air quality is expected to improve significantly after sunrise on Tuesday. The air quality index could spike again on Tuesday night as winds are expected to pick up out of the NE a couple of hours after sunset…
