SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Dozens of families in Sarasota County got a little bigger and a little furrier after stopping at the Humane Society’s busiest adoption event of the year over the weekend.
“When you come here, and you adopt an adult dog, you’re saving two lives,” said Hannah Howard, communication coordinator of Habitat for Humanity of Sarasota County. “When you come here and adopt an adult cat, you’re saving two lives because you’re saving that one that you would adopt, but you’re saving that next one that we get to go and pull.”
The Humane Society waived adoption fees, doing it all to drive up demand for loyal companions. This weekend, it seemed to be working, with only 50 animals left ahead of the final day of the offer…
