Longboat Key boater says thieves stole $15,000 in GPS equipment from docked vessel

LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. (WWSB) – A Longboat Key resident says more than $15,000 in GPS and navigation equipment was stolen from her boat while it was docked at its slip.

Kristen Laviolette said she and her family arrived at their boat the weekend of June 13–14 to find two holes where the navigation screens had been removed and wires cut.

“Last weekend we were so excited to have family in town for a special occasion. We came over to the boat, my kids realized that all of our navigation systems had been ripped out. So upsetting, disappointing, and violating,” Laviolette said…
