SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Cassie Figueroa moved to Sarasota knowing no one and turned that fresh start into a mobile bar business called Sarasota Sips.
Figueroa, small-business owner of Sarasota Sips, said her interest in entrepreneurship began in college, when she started a business called Smooth Rollin’ Cocoa. The business sold individual hot cocoa mixes that customers could make by adding water. Figueroa said it was one of her first experiences turning an idea into something she could sell.
From corporate finance to a fresh start
After college, Figueroa went into corporate finance. She said she knew she ultimately wanted to build something of her own.
Figueroa quit her corporate finance job and moved to Sarasota without knowing anyone in the area. On the drive to Sarasota, she was in a car accident. She arrived in the city with no car, no job and no local network, and said she began building a life there from scratch…
