Head to the beach Saturday morning and you’ll find mostly sunny skies with a few isolated beach showers. The rip current risk is low, and the surf is minimal at around a foot or less, making it a nice day for swimming. But don’t let your guard down—thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon, starting between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and becoming more likely after 5 p.m. These storms could pack strong winds, so be ready to exit the water and seek shelter when you see them approaching. Winds will start light from the southeast in the morning, shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. The moderate thunderstorm potential means you’ll want to keep one eye on the sky while you’re enjoying the beach. When thunder roars, it’s time to go indoors!
