ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — A weekend boating trip turned tragic after a 63-year-old man died following a fall into the water, as hazardous conditions continue to impact parts of Florida.
Authorities say the incident highlights growing concerns about water safety as rough conditions persist across the state.
What Happened
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the man, identified as Tony Le, was reported missing Saturday morning.
Investigators said:
- He was boating with family near channel marker 18
- Sitting at the back of the boat when he fell overboard
- Family members immediately attempted to rescue him
Despite quick action, he could not be located.

Emergency crews launched a search shortly after the incident.
