Man charged with attempted murder after opening fire on boaters in Lake Wimauma: HCSO

WIMAUMA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Wimauma man is facing nine felony charges after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said he opened fire on four people fishing in Lake Wimauma on Monday evening.

Leo Palacios, 60, was at his residence in the 5500 block of State Road 674, across from the lake, when he exited the home and began yelling at the victims, HCSO said.

He went back into the home to retrieve a firearm and proceeded to fire multiple rounds at the four victims, but fortunately, he did not cause any injuries or damage to the boat.
