Bradenton Beach keeps its own police department after weeks of debate

BRADENTON BEACH, Fla. (WWSB) – The future of local law enforcement in Bradenton Beach is now settled after city leaders voted to keep the city’s police department in place, ending weeks of discussion over a possible shift to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The decision came during a special meeting at City Hall, where commissioners ultimately chose to maintain the current department rather than move policing under county control.
