Unsettled weather for the Memorial Day weekend and next week

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – This morning will calm and mostly sunny across the Suncoast, with temperatures quickly rising through the 80s by late morning. Afternoon highs will reach the lower to middle 90s inland, with heat index values near 100 degrees. Only isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected, mainly inland, but a few stronger storms could still bring gusty winds and small hail. Closer to the coast, the highs will be in the lower 90s.

Sunday or chances for rain increase as scattered to numerous afternoon and evening thunderstorms develop along the sea breeze. Storms may linger into the late evening before skies partially clear overnight. Once again, most of the storms will be mostly inland. Memorial Day will stay hot and humid with highs in the low 90s.

A chance in winds on Tuesday and Wednesday as winds are expected to shift. They will flow more from the west and southwest, which will bring a bit of a pattern chance to the Suncoast. This direction of wind flow will push the greatest storm coverage even farther inland…
