Men have been inexplicably exiting sewers across Brooklyn, New York, prompting the New York Police Department (NYPD) to investigate.
The NYPD confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that the mysterious behavior poses no threat to the public. Authorities speculate the men are “scouring the system for valuables that get into the sewage,” an NYPD official said, per NBC News.
The NYPD said that at least seven people used a manhole to enter sewers near McDonald Avenue and Colin Place in Gravesend on the evening of May 28. The suspected went down around 11 p.m. and returned to the street around 2 a.m. on May 29…
