A$AP Rocky not only challenged NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani to a rap battle but even declared that he would beat him at it. Rocky shared that he’s down to both battle and debate Mamdani. The topic was first teased to the 37-year-old rapper during the Met Gala this year.
A$AP Rocky says he is ‘coming’ for Zohran Mamdani’s spot
A$AP Rocky declared he wants to have a rap battle against NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani. In a new conversation with Vibe writer Jeff Ihaza, Rocky was reminded of the Met Gala incident. It involved a fan suggesting a rap battle between him and Mamdani. Ihaza said, “There is something about a rap battle with Mamdani?” Rocky asked, surprised, “Mamdani wanna rap battle me? Where? No way he called me out.”
Ihaza reminded the rapper, “Someone at the Met Gala asked you about doing a rap battle with Mamdani.” The “Praise the Lord” rapper replied, “Mamdani ain’t f***ing with me. Listen, I’m already coming for his spot because I’m about to be mayor in like four years or whatever, you know what I’m saying. So listen, if he wanna battle, we could do that. If he want to have a little debate, we could do that too, man.” Rocky added, “I am here to do something humanitarian work for the city that I am from. All bulls**t aside, you know what I’m saying. I’m really going to run for mayor.”
Fans are excited about the possibility of Rocky and Mamdani battling against each other in a rap contest. One fan commented, “New York politics and Harlem hip-hop colliding on a debate stage is elite. VIBE is delivering a classic cover story with this one.” A second fan wrote, “Alright, I’m watching.” A third fan quipped, “billionaire bf vs socialist mayor.” A fourth penned, “So next album name reveal? Mayor Meyers,” followed by a fire emoji…
