Eight accused of impersonating legitimate trucking companies, using forged placards to steal $5 million in goods

Eight people are facing serious charges for impersonating legitimate trucking companies in order to steal millions of dollars worth of items from logistics sites throughout the northeast.

On June 3, 2026, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office (MDAO) announced charges of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree and Grand Larceny in the Second Degree against the following individuals:

  • Murodullo Khasanov
  • Nodir Kobilov
  • Shavkatbek Mamadjanov
  • Rakhmiddin Abdullaev
  • Aleksey Vorobyev
  • Nizom Ismoilov
  • Doston Mardoev
  • Dilshod Nabiev

Some defendants also face charges of Grand Larceny in the First and Second Degrees and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the First and Second Degrees.

The theft operation took place between October 2025 and April 2026, and resulted in the loss of:

  • $165,000 worth of lamb
  • $432,000 worth of cheese
  • $295,000 worth of beef
  • M ore than $266,000 worth of copper
  • More than $3.3 million of cigarettes

Officials accused the defendants of using fraudulently obtained shipment information of real shipping carriers and brokers, impersonating the legitimate companies, and stealing nearly $5 million in goods from logistics sites in Pennsylvania, Virginia and New Jersey. The stolen items were then sold on the black market in New York City.

According to MDAO, the defendants obtained information on winning bids on load boards from hackers. After that, they would “allegedly lease tractor trucks and affix the name and registration number of the real shipping carrier that was supposed to make the pickup. They would then drive to the logistics center, pick up the goods and coordinate further shipment into and through Manhattan.”…
