STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Mayor Zohran Mamdani may have to look for other options to close next year’s city budget, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in an interview with Politico.
Hochul said it’s up to the mayor to handle the budget going forward, even as she provided billions in financial aid this year to close New York City’s budget gap.
“Now they have their own team in place,” she told Politico. “They control the budget. They need to look hard at spending. They need to identify programs that are not serving what they should, or that are out of control in scale.”…
