No arrests yet in fatal Jersey City shooting near public safety HQ where 2nd man hurt

No one has been arrested yet in a fatal Jersey City shooting early this morning near the public safety building where a second man was injured by gunfire, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired on Orient Avenue near Martin Luther King Drive, Mello said in a statement.

Responding officers located an injured man – later identified as Jenardo Tejada, 38, of Jersey City – with apparent gunshot wound(s). He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause and manner of death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office…
