Mamdani Faces Ground Zero Backlash After Skipping ’93 Memorial

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani skipped this year’s memorial for victims of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing to meet with President Donald Trump in Washington, even as he plans to attend next month’s 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks despite objections from some victims’ families, the New York Post reported Saturday.

Mamdani sent Deputy Mayor for Operations Julia Kerson to the Feb. 26 ceremony at Ground Zero while he privately met Trump to pitch more than $21 billion in federal funding for a proposed 12,000-unit affordable housing development at a Queens railyard.
