NEW YORK (PIX11) — The heat and humidity are allowing the chance for another round of severe weather to move into parts of the tri-state region Monday afternoon and into the evening.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for New York City, surrounding suburbs and all of New Jersey through 9 p.m., according to the Storm Prediction Center.

The best chance for severe weather to impact the city will be between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. according to PIX11 meteorologist Pat Cavlin.
Any thunderstorm that develops will be capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. There could be a few isolated storms that could even bring significant damage with gusts to 75 mph.
A severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for damaging winds and large hail in and close to the watch area. Everyone in the watch area should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and possible warning alerts…
