Showers and thunderstorms expected in NYC region: Here’s when

NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11) — There was plenty of sunshine and dry air to go around on Saturday as high pressure over the region remained in control. Changes are on the horizon, however, as a storm system in the Midwest is set to bring some weather to our area.

Heading into Saturday evening and Saturday night, you can expect skies to become partly cloudy throughout the tri-state. Winds will switch over to a southeast direction, so humidity levels will slowly begin to increase. Overnight lows will primarily be in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. Cooler temperatures are likely north and west of the city.

After some early-day sunshine on Sunday, clouds will increase as a low-pressure system approaches the region. A few showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during the afternoon and evening hours. Southerly winds will allow the humidity to continue increasing.
