Makharesh, who was behind the wheel, had encountered a slow-moving vehicle in the center lane of the parkway and had decelerated behind it, officials reported. However, a 46-year-old woman driving a 2024 Honda SUV was unable to slow down in time and crashed into Makharesh’s 2022 Cadillac SUV, according to police.

Both drivers lost control and ran into a guard rail on the south side of the roadway, causing Makharesh, Gerantidi and Rehman to be ejected from the vehicle, authorities said.
