BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A former New York City Police Department detective has been indicted for allegedly beating a handcuffed prisoner inside a Brooklyn police precinct, leaving the man with an orbital fracture and other injuries, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Raymond Ng, 51, who worked with the NYPD 76th Precinct detective squad, was arraigned Aug. 11 before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun. He faces assault, official misconduct, menacing and weapons charges stemming from the Jan. 19 encounter.
Prosecutors say precinct surveillance video captured the confrontation inside a holding cell after the 49-year-old man voluntarily came to the stationhouse to surrender on an assault case. Ng was released without bail and ordered to return to court Oct. 28.
- Ng is charged with second- and third-degree assault, official misconduct, second- and third-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
