Heather Stines has not been charged with any crime yet
A woman in New York City was arrested after several body parts, including a severed head, were found inside of her freezer.
On Jan. 22, police performed a wellness check at an apartment in Brooklyn where ‘officers observed an unconscious and unresponsive unidentified male inside the apartment,’ an NYPD spokesperson told the Independent .
After confirming that the individual was deceased, officers searched the rest of the apartment. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny confirmed that the officers ‘came across some body parts in the freezer.’
“We have a head. We have some limbs,” Kenny told reporters Tuesday . “As of right now, it seems like we have the whole body.”
Kenny said that the police are still trying to determine the person whose body parts were in the freezer, with the chief medical examiner working to determine the cause of death.
Heather Stines was taken into custody following the discovery of the body parts, though she has not yet been charged with any crime, with the NYPD still attempting to figure out whose body it is and what happened to them.
