Man shoots dad, leaves 2 dogs dead in NJ home

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880) – A man with multiple gunshot wounds and two dead dogs was found inside his home in New Jersey on Monday, New Jersey State Police said.

Troopers received a shooting complaint at around 4:50 p.m. and arrived at a single-family home on County Road 628 in Wantage Township.

Upon arrival, they found Donald Simpson, 70, with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

They also found two dead dogs with gunshot wounds.

Simpson was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Troopers were able to locate the suspect, Daniel Simpson, 34, and arrested him, police said. They also found the gun in the same area.

According to the Daily Voice , Daniel is Donald’s son.

Daniel was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

An investigation is ongoing.
