Skyscraper on fire near 9/11 memorial in New York City

A skyscraper is on fire near the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City’s Financial District .

Black smoke is flowing from the top of a building at 125 Greenwich Street in the Financial District. The skyscraper is just 0.1 miles from the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

A helicopter is circling the building. Crews from New York Fire Department are also at the scene.

125 Greenwich Street, which is also known as 22 Thames Street, is a residential skyscraper just two blocks south of the One World Trade Center.

It’s understood the fire broke out around 9.30am EST. It’s believed around construction workers were in the building when the fire broke out.

Crowds of people gathered at the junction of Greenwich Street and Liberty Street as the smoke continued to flow from the towering building.
