Emergency crews are responding to a freight train derailment in North Bergen, New Jersey, according to officials.
A CSX freight train derailed near 2425 Tonnelle Ave. around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Officials say 11 freight cars derailed, and seven were leaning.
They say that three rail cars that were on their side were of particular concern. One of them contained ethyl acetate, which is highly flammable, and had spilled. The other two contained liquids, holly propane and hex aldehyde, which is also flammable.
Hazmat teams worked to safely mitigate the situation by diluting the ethyl acetate with large amounts of water, and is no longer leaking, according to North Bergen public safety officials…
