Sewage drained into Clove Lakes for decades, NYC works on fix

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For decades, sewage has drained into a waterway at Clove Lakes Park, but city officials are now working towards a solution.

Last month, a neon-green dye test confirmed the problem of a faulty septic connection at a Castleton Corners Parks Department garage, and on Thursday, a department spokesperson said the agency is working on a fix.

“We are in the process of determining an action plan to address fixtures that had been draining to the stormwater line in order to connect them to a septic tank,” the spokesperson said…
