Developer defies stop work order to demolish 127-year-old Staten Island home

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York City officials hit a developer with a series of violations for the demolition of a New Brighton home that stood for over a century, the Advance/SILive.com recently learned.

A Department of Buildings spokesperson said the agency permitted the demolition of 203 Franklin Ave. in February, but that after receiving complaints on March 3, an inspection found a host of violations at the site.

The demolition team lacked an on-site superintendent, failed to provide the inspector with demolition plans, were using an excavator outside the manufacturer’s specifications, and had a construction fence without viewing panels, according to a Department of Buildings spokesperson…
