A man who came to the United States as an undocumented immigrant has been charged with murder after Nassau County police said he fatally stabbed two women in separate attacks hours apart in Valley Stream and Island Park.
Rony Yahir Alvarenga-Rivera, 22, a native of El Salvador, is accused of killing a neighbor and a co-worker late Thursday into early Friday, according to police and prosecutors. Officials said he entered the United States as an unaccompanied minor at age 12.
Alvarenga-Rivera was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead and was ordered held without bail…
