Missing kayaker found dead in Warrensburg

WARRENSBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A missing kayaker from Yonkers was found dead in Schroon River around 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Recovery and rescue crews were searching for the 21-year-old after receiving reports of an overturned kayak and a missing individual.

On Sunday, troopers responded to the area of Library Avenue in Warrensburg for the report of an overturned kayak in the Schroon River. The investigation determined the 21-year-old from Yonkers had been occupying the kayak before it was found.

The Warren County Marine Rescue Team and the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team searched the area into the early morning hours, but did not initially locate the kayaker until the search resumed later on Monday.
