NYC trash bin deadline looms: Avoid mistakes with these must-know tips before June 1 mandate

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — If you’ve already purchased your new NYC trash bin, you may be wondering how to properly maintain it.

Starting June 1, the new trash cans, known as NYC Bins, will be required for residential buildings with one to nine units — including one- and two-family homes, nonprofits and city agencies, according to the city Department of Sanitation.
