The parents of a newborn are facing a criminal homicide charge after their baby died from “multiple traumatic injuries.”
Kevin Canaan, 28, of Reading, Pa., and Yeniffer Tavarez-Cepeda, 25, of New York City, have both been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children, the Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced in a press release shared with PEOPLE.
On Saturday, May 2, West Reading Police responded to a call for suspected child abuse at Tower Health Reading Hospital. Officers learned that a seemingly healthy newborn baby boy was in medical distress inside a private patient recovery room.
