Newark man sentenced in death of woman killed while attempting to stop him from fleeing police

A Newark man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison after being found guilty of killing a woman who tried to stop him from fleeing police in 2021.

Lando Marc, 34, was attempting to drive away after police responded to a domestic violence incident at a gathering in Irvington on Dec. 9, 2021, when Jenny Philistin, 27, jumped onto the hood of his parked car to prevent him from leaving.

He sped away with Philistin on the hood of the vehicle, ran a stop sign and drove the wrong way down a one-way street, according to prosecutors…
