NYC to combat Staten Island mosquitoes with aerial larviciding treatment next week

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For the first time this summer, the New York City Health Department will conduct aerial larviciding operations in New York City in an effort to reduce mosquito activity.

Low-flying helicopters will treat various nonresidential marshes and wetland areas of Staten Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. from June 8 through June 10.

Several areas of Staten Island are expected to be treated, including Freshkills Park, Wolfes Pond Park and the areas of Old Town and South Beach…
