Years after a catastrophic fire closed Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza and months after the man who mastered its mythical oven suffered a stroke, one of New Jersey’s most beloved pizzerias may soon be up for sale.
The Santillo family announced Friday it is seeking a buyer to take over the 100-year-old Elizabeth pizzeria as its patriarch, the 69-year-old Al Santillo, recovers from his health issues.
“The Santillo family is grateful for all the love and prayers. Al continues to rehabilitate and the recovery is moving along,” the Santillo family said in a Facebook post. “With the responsibilities involved with the pizzeria the family has decided to see if there is an appetite for the business, a broker has been retained to assist in seeing if there is a party interested in purchasing the pizzeria.”…
