Coney Island Avenue’s kosher dining strip just got a major upscale Asian addition. Izakaya Asian Table opened today in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, taking over the space that most recently housed TrasTevere, the Roman Italian restaurant that had been a fixture on the strip for several years.
An Upscale Japanese Concept for the Strip
Izakaya Asian Table is a Gold Duck Hospitality concept, bringing a high end Japanese izakaya style menu to the heart of the Flatbush and Midwood kosher corridor. The menu spans nigiri, sashimi flights, signature rolls, hot starters, and a full lineup of main courses, putting it in the same upscale lane as the city’s top kosher sushi and Asian fusion spots.
The nigiri list is extensive for a kosher menu, including akami, chutoro, and otoro bluefin tuna, Atlantic and Scottish salmon, hamachi, alfonsino, shima aji, and madai. Sushi or sashimi flights let diners sample several cuts at once, with options like the tuna assortment (akami, chutoro, and otoro) or a six kind chef’s choice nigiri flight.
Standout Menu Items

Among the mains, the Moroccan ramen and Shorty ramen both feature noodles and a soft boiled egg, while the short rib comes Asian caramel glazed with a sesame peanut wasabi crust and butternut squash puree. For bigger appetites, the menu also has a 210 dollar tomahawk steak with fingerling potato and demi glaze.…
