Local community calls out NYU Langone after buying NYC movie theater

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Local community organizations are calling out a healthcare provider after learning that it bought a complex that includes a movie theater and a supermarket.

The coalition of community groups and local elected officials is asking NYU Langone to work with residents after it was found that it acquired the retail complex, located at 570 Second Ave., that includes an AMC movie theater and Fairway supermarket.

An online petition to save the theater from closure has amassed over 8,300 signatures as of Thursday.
