Man, 36, charged for fatally stabbing mom, killing dog in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly stabbed his mom to death and killed a dog found outside of a Brooklyn apartment building over the weekend.

Andre Eugene, 36, was charged with murder, aggravated cruelty to animals, and criminal possession of a weapon.

At 7:02 p.m. on Friday, Jan 19, officers responded to a call at an eleventh-floor apartment at 1500 Hornell Loop, in Starrett City.

Upon arrival, police discovered 58-year-old Donna Hyman and Eugene with stab wounds to the torso. The pair were mother and son and both lived in the building, according to authorities.

Hyman was pronounced dead on the scene, and her son was transported to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.

Additionally, police found a dog dead after falling from an elevated position outside of the apartment building.
