STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The alleged detainment of two Staten Island residents was referenced in a class action lawsuit brought against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and several law enforcement officials.
The lawsuit, filed in Brooklyn federal court, claims that the immigration enforcement campaign spearheaded by the administration of President Donald Trump is “terrorizing New York communities.”
The lawsuit was filed by eight Latino New York residents who allege they were unlawfully stopped and arrested by the Department of Homeland Security’s component agencies, ICE and Customs and Border Protection.
