Man Sentenced for Brutal Murder in New York
Halley Tejada has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. The sentencing took place in Manhattan Supreme Court following his guilty plea in December 2025.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office confirmed the punishment, stating that the sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime. Although prosecutors had asked for a longer sentence of 25 years to life, the court decided on a slightly lesser term.

The victim, Nadia Vitels, was 52 years old and had just begun a new phase in her life. She was moving into a new apartment in the Kips Bay area of Manhattan when the tragic incident happened.
