While it’s a sport that’s been played for generations in North America, it’s really starting to begin catching on among different communities in the United States and Canada. Modern-day lacrosse, both field lacrosse and box lacrosse, has roots that run deep in Native American communities that go all the way back to well beyond the 17th century when Europeans began arriving on the shores of America.

People from the Haudenosaunee Nation have been playing the sport for centuries, and it should come as no surprise that Buffalo and Western New York embrace lacrosse as a major sport in the region.
