BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Over 500 participants gathered at Orchard Park’s Wayland Brewery Sunday for the third annual Lyme WNY 5K to support Lyme disease awareness.
Organizers said they wanted to utilize the event to educate the community on tick prevention, as well as the local resources available to those with Lyme disease.
“Over the past 13 years, we’ve met thousands of people afflicted by Lyme disease and tick-born illnesses, and it really changes your life,” Rebecca Roll with Lyme WNY said. “We want people to enjoy the outdoors, we want people to enjoy this beautiful, beautiful day, and this beautiful summer that we have in Buffalo, New York, but to remember to prevent, remember to use your bug sprays, remember to tick check.”…
