Grand Island fire crews respond to hazmat situation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Fire crews on Grand Island responded to a hazmat situation Sunday after being alerted to a chlorine leak alarm at the town Water Department’s tank and pumping station on White Haven Road.

Working with several other agencies, including Erie County’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, crews were able to identify a faulty valve and mitigate the hazard. According to fire officials, at no time was there a threat to the public.
