17-year-old pleads guilty to bringing gun to BPS School 197

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo teen pleaded guilty on Wednesday to bringing an unloaded gun into a Buffalo public school in April, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said.

A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to one count of criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, officials said. He also pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm for a separate incident.

The incident took place around 11 a.m. on April 1 at BPS School 197, also known as the Math Science Technology Preparatory School, when the unloaded handgun was discovered during a search of the student’s bag.
