Neighbors and preservationists were relieved to see renovations started on the long-vacant structure at 192 Bidwell Parkway in recent months. The fire-damaged, and partially renovated building’s future has been in doubt for some time. We now know what is planned for the site. Owners Maura and Charles Winkler of Colden are working with Abstract Architecture to convert the three-unit building into five residential units. The project requires a variance to allow for the increased density.
The Winkler’s 192 Bidwell LLC purchased the 4,822 sq.ft. property in November for $325,000. Many feared the building was doomed as it was gutted and some reported structurally unsafe due to poorly executed stabilization and renovation work by prior owners.

This is a building that neighbors have been paying close attention to over the years, as it is one of the only at-risk structures on Bidwell. There were fears that this beauty would not make it to see another spring, due to its deteriorated state, especially since there were rumors that a chimney had been removed due to a fire, which led to numerous other problematic structural issues. The interior was essentially gutted. At one point, the building was listed at $450K, and then $375K. It ended up selling for $325K in November of 2025 to 192 Bidwell LLC, upon which time a stabilization permit was pulled a couple months ago. …
