BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A citizen of Brazil was arrested and charged after allegedly escaping from a federal detention facility in Buffalo, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said on Monday.
Ernando Elias Orelio, 38, is accused of climbing a fence onto the roof to escape. The officer found Orelio on the roof, where he allegedly jumped to the ground and ran away. He was located shortly after in a nearby wooded area. Staff notified Homeland Security Investigations that he had escaped on June 7.
Orelio had been arrested by the Watervliet City Police Department in May and charged with second-degree criminal trespass, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and second-degree harassment.
