Former Erie County narcotics chief pleads not guilty to gun storage charge

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Former Erie County Chief of Narcotics D.J. Granville pleaded not guilty in Buffalo City Court Wednesday morning in relation to a gun storage charge.

Granville was charged with unsafe storage of a gun after the weapon was allegedly found in an abandoned Tesla near City Hall in downtown Buffalo in May. According to sources the Tesla was registered to Buffalo Biodiesel and Granville was not the operator of the vehicle, although the gun found in the trunk of the car was registered to him.

Officers also reported finding in the car a wallet with a work ID and sheriff’s office badge, prescription medicine, clothes, paperwork, a checkbook, a cell phone and a walkie-talkie radio…
