U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said a New York woman took a “wrong turn” into a border crossing where officers found she was illegally in possession of a firearm.
CBP officers at the Port of Buffalo’s Lewiston Bridge border crossing on Aug. 18 encountered a 52-year-old U.S. citizen from Rochester after she took a “wrong turn” into the port of entry. She declared having a Taurus 9mm handgun.
Officers took possession of the firearm and escorted the woman, the vehicle and its other occupants to a secondary inspection area. During the inspection, officers learned the woman did not have the New York State pistol permit required to possess the handgun.
The woman was taken into custody for processing by CBP before she and the firearm were turned over to New York State Police to face felony firearms charges. CBP did not immediately release the woman’s identity…
