On Wednesday at 5:43 p.m. the National Weather Service released a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 7 p.m. for Erie, Genesee, Monroe, Niagara and Orleans counties.
The storms are packing quarter-sized hail (1 inch) and wind gusts of up to 70 mph.
“At 5:43 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 14 miles northeast of Fort Niagara State Park, or 22 miles northwest of Lockport, moving southeast at 40 mph,” states the weather service. “Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.”…
